Mahrad Almotahari

I'm a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. I'm also a member of the Edinburgh Meaning Sciences Group. Occasionally, I'm a guest at IPM's School of Analytic Philosophy in Tehran. I specialize in the philosophy of mind and language, but I'm also interested in metaphysics and the history of philosophy (especially early Islamic thought). I received my PhD from MIT. I was an undergraduate at Reed College. (I'm very fond of Portland, Oregon.)

I'm on research leave this academic year (2026-27) and won't be responding to requests for supervision (unless you're one of the students I've already agreed to supervise over this period).
