Good Morning to all.
I, Dr Malaya Kumar Nath, am currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at NIT Puducherry and holding the post of Associate Dean of International Relations, Alumni, & Publicity. I served as the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from February 5, 2024, to January 23, 2025.
I have completed my PhD in signal processing in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at IIT Guwahati, where I also completed my M. Tech in signal processing in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I began my academic career on July 10, 2013, at NIT Puducherry and had the opportunity to work as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, in 2018.
My research focuses on machine learning, biomedical signal processing, and image analysis. I have published 36 articles in SCI journals and 27 conference papers, with 2190 citations and an h-index of 24 on Google Scholar. I am listed among the Top 2% of influential scientists worldwide, based on the Stanford University report for 2025, published by Elsevier, in the subfield of Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing, with a Rank of 7,899. I am currently an Associate Editor for the Multimedia Tools and Applications (Springer) journal. I have supervised four PhD scholars and five M.Tech students, and am currently supervising one PhD scholar.
Additionally, I have organized numerous academic events, including SERB-sponsored Karyashala workshops & Symposia in 2024, a GIAN Program in 2022, an AICTE-sponsored ATAL FDP in 2021 & 2024, and Digital India in 2015, Technical fest Gyanith in 2024 and Tarangg in 2015 & 2016.
Alongside my departmental responsibilities, I serve as a class advisor for current fourth-year B.Tech students and actively participate in funded projects to advance my research. Currently, I have one ICMR project focused on AI-based early detection of cardiovascular disease using multimodal signals and medical records for clinical care.
