All karatekas who fight and compete regardless of style can take part in how a world champion thinks and how to train to become the best in the world.
The book is created for Malavé Do instructors and students but also for anyone who wants to learn modern kumite/fight from scratch. The book is a solid work, a bible for modern karate some say, and spans everything from technique to mental training, history and philosophy.
Malavé Do is a style but also style-independent because the method describes how karate has developed from a samurai defense to a modern civilized and effective martial arts in the 21st century that can be applied by anyone who practices kumite/fight regardless of style.
Ramon writes in his introduction to the book about how he thought when he started a new karate style:
"If I were to do it, what would it look like? What would it contain? I quickly concluded that I could not start a Shotokan club, because I didn't train or teach that anymore. The traditional karate style was not sufficient to cover what I wanted to teach. If I were to teach from scratch, I wanted everyone - regardless of age or experience with karate - to learn correctly from the beginning. Everything unnecessary and everything that I didn't think worked from the traditional karate style had to be removed. It simply has to be a modern method.”
The two main parts of the book are about mental development and perfecting your techniques according to the Malavé Do method. In the part about mental development, you gain insight into Ramon’s concept for mental strength and balance: Prepared -Decisive - Determined
A mental concept that brought Ramon to the world championship title in karate and that you can adopt and apply in your training and in your everyday life.
In the technique section of the book you can read about speed and power on a scientific basis. About myths around traditional karate and how modern competitive kumite should be performed to be effective and meet 21st century standards. Which techniques work and how they should be performed. about the difference between perfect and excellent.
The book is rich in detailed technique images that describe Malavé Do’s techniques in a clear and educational way.
