The technical system of Malavé Do is a path to perfection in kumite (fighting). The methodology is based on efficiency in movement and technique and is a complete system for the modern kumit in the 21 st century.
Techniques and movement are based on modern and scientific methodology. All techniques and movements have been broken down into components and analyzed to find the most effective way to perform and develop each individual technique and movement. All unnecessary movements and moments are rationalized for more efficient use of human physionomy and for a better result in implementation.
Footwork and how to effectively execute punches, kicks and blocks from movement is central. All techniques (punches, kicks and blocks) are based on Malavé dachi and are performed as clean and directly towards the target as possible based on the nature of the technique and the anatomical conditions of the human body. All techniques should be based on a structure that can be refined and fine-tuned in the pursuit of perfection.
Some fundamental differences between traditional styles and Malavé Do:
All techniques in Malavé Do start from a single position (Malavé dachi)
Malavé Do has a method for the movement work in modern kumite
All unnecessary movements and moments are rationalized away in Malavé Do
Malavé Do does not use hikite
(which is a completely unnecessary movement for power development and for the strike as such)
Malavé Do does not have a heel on the floor at impact (pressing the heel back into the floor prevents both movement and power)
