What do I need to do the day of my makeup application?
For makeup services, please arrive with clean/cleansed skin. Moisturizing products and lip balm/masks are okay. No makeup. This includes mascara - pretty please! It's also recommended that you please refrain from eating, smoking/vaping, and using your phone during application.
Other tips: Brush your teeth beforehand and avoid oily foods to not disrupt the lipstick/face makeup!
What do I need to do the week of my makeup application?
This is optional, but for those wanting to go the extra mile, I highly recommend hydrofacial & dermaplane services by an esthetician prior to your wedding/special event! This will minimize the appearance of texture, have your skin as smooth as possible and completely change the game for makeup application. Also, the week of, getting eyebrows waxed/groomed (NOT the day of- because the makeup won’t adhere properly to freshly waxed skin) to have the best shaped brows for your makeup! The night before, please cleanse, exfoliate (optional), and moisturize the skin and lips.
*Note: If you are planning for a wedding and want to go that extra mile, I recommend seeing an esthetician six months prior to the date, to get monthly facials and/or establish a skincare routine catered to your needs. Good skin = flawless makeup!
Can you cover up wrinkles/acne/scars with makeup?
Unfortunately, makeup does not cover up texture, however it can cover discoloration. It can minimize the appearance and slightly blur, but not change your skin. If you are looking to address your skin concerns, I recommend seeing an esthetician months prior to your makeup service. If you need a Michigan-based esthetician recommendation, contact me for a referral! But please, remember that skin texture is completely normal so never apologize to me for acne, fine lines, etc. You’re beautiful the way you are!
Do you bring your own lashes or do I have to bring them?
I carry over 25 styles of eyelashes in my professional makeup kit (it’s personally my favorite part of the look and perfect for photos) so you do not need to bring your own unless you prefer to. There will be no price change if you bring your own or if you do not want lashes (although I highly, highly recommend them).
Do you bring your own supplies?
YES… I bring everything! My fully-stocked professional makeup and skincare kit for all skin types and skin tones, clean brushes for each client, a mirror, professional lighting, makeup chair that holds up to 450lbs with a foot and drink rest, mini garbage can, portable table, mini bluetooth speaker, and other equipment! (I only ask that if I am traveling on-site, please attempt to opt for somewhere with generous space, and natural lighting/windows.)
What's included in your makeup touch-up kit?
My makeup touchup kits that I gift to EVERY single client includes a tissue (for patting happy tears), makeup powder puff, makeup sponge, Q-tip, personalized mini lipstick, blotting papers (for my oily peeps!), makeup remover wipe for the end of the night, a straw (to help lipstick from transferring), mints for refreshing breath, and my business cards. For brides I also like to add a spoolie & mini lash glue!
Can you accommodate larger bridal parties of 6+ people or if there's time constraints?
Yes! All pricing would be the same with the addition of an extra artist fee (see pricing tab) which accounts for part or all of their travel fee, so you don't have to worry about looking for and hiring another artist because I do all the admin work, communication, and handling of payments for you! I often bring on board other makeup artists who I know and trust in the industry, and if they are available I will gladly be able to hire them as a 2nd artist.
*Note: I run my business independently, meaning I do not work with or for a company that has a team of makeup artists. So, I cannot 100% guarantee that I can find an assistant/2nd artist for very large bookings. I have yet to run into this issue, but in the event I cannot find someone available, you may have to seek and book another artist separately.
Why does the bride's makeup cost more?
The brides get serviced from the day they book to the day/days after their wedding. I most likely spend 1+ years communicating, emailing, answering questions, offering guidance, coordinating timelines for the wedding morning, sending prep tips, and doing follow up communication with them. Whereas the attendees/bridal party are only getting serviced the day of. I also like to allot a little extra time for the bride on on the wedding day, and include more in-depth skincare for them such as gua sha, eye and lip masks, etc. and an even MORE in-depth touch-up kit if needed. Also factors in touch ups for the whole bridal party after servces are complete.
What happens if you are unable to make it on the wedding day due to an emergency (sickness, car accident, etc.)?
If I’m unable to make it to your wedding for an emergency reason, I will let you know ASAP and try my absolute hardest to find a trusted replacement and I will refund you 100% of your paid retainer.
Can we get ready at my venue’s bridal suite?
Before planning to get ready there, reach out to your venue to see when they allopw access to their bridal suite! Most venues don’t open bridal suites until late morning/early afternoon which does not give the makeup and hair crew enough time to complete services. I always recommend getting ready at an Airbnb, residence, or hotel suite if this is the case. Otherwise, go ahead and book the bridal suite if all is clear!
Why do you suggest that the bride/newlywed go somewhere in the middle of the bridal party instead of at the end?
The reason why I highly recommend the bride going somewhere in the middle or even second to last is that out of the 300-ish weddings I’ve been a part of, I’ve noticed that later in the day is when things start getting a little more chaotic; the photographer arrives, everyone needs the bride’s attention and is trying to talk to the bride etc. So if the bride goes last while this is going on, it can cause the makeup service to take a lot longer so this is how I like to prevent this. I always go around at the end to do any touch ups if need be before I leave though to ensure everything is as fresh as possible, especially lip touch ups! (even though I do provide full touch up kits as well).
