About Me

Hello!

My name is Rowyn, owner of Makeup by Rowyn LLC. I am a licensed and insured professional makeup artist based in Southeast Michigan (but travel all over) with 8 years of experience! I am extremely passionate about makeup artistry and working with people.

I am best known for my ethereal soft glam looks, but what I truly pride myself in as an artist is my versatility. As I also love doing subtle/natural looks AND full glam looks (on all skin types, skin tones, and ages!). I love customizing every look to each of my clients to best suit their specific features to enhance their natural beauty.

I am dedicated to providing top-notch customer service and a luxurious experience to my clients to help them feel like the best version of themselves.

You can always count on me for excellent sanitation, expertise in color theory and skin tones/shade matching, and thorough preparation for every job. As a perfectionist, I’m passionate about delivering flawless glam, but most importantly, I do my best to help you feel confident on your special day.

My goal is to ensure a seamless booking process and top-tier communication with my clients. And to always make them feel understood, valued, appreciated, and comfortable. Book with me and I’ll be your #1 hype girl!

Early Background

I am now 23 but I have loved makeup for as long as I can remember. I started wearing it when I was in 6th grade for fun. When I was 12-14 I became OBSESSED with makeup. I would watch literally thousands of hours of tutorials on YouTube and was obsessed with all the celebrity pro makeup artists and beauty gurus!

I would miss all the school dances and would instead do 9-12+ girls' makeup that day to get them ready for the dance because I built up my name in my small town.

I was in the makeup and hair crew in Theatre at my high school for all 4 years (for 3 of those years I was the head coordinator!).

That taught me how to work on all skin tones and types in a very fast paced manor-and do ALL different kinds of makeup! I then worked doing makeup for Church and local productions.

Early Career

I started doing wedding parties when I was 15 years old and I immediately knew I wanted to make a career out of it! It came naturally to me and I had never felt so passionate about something in my life. I have been doing it ever since!

I started gaining a clientele, fast. I was working at an amazing salon in my hometown, and my mentors taught me so much about the business end of things, customer service, wedding parties, how to work and service all different people, etc. and my career just excelled from there.

I pursued cosmetology school full time as well as working full-time (with clients and as a salon assistant). I am now a licensed cosmetologist! I experienced a couple hiccups along the way with the Covid-19 pandemic/quarantine and some sudden chronic illness struggles but came out it stronger than ever.

Client Protection

Proper sanitation is EXTREMELY important to me to protect my clients. I take every precaution possible. I take cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing very seriously (ex. always using washed, cleaned, and disinfected brushes for each client, using makeup disposables and palettes, gifting sponges and makeup puffs to each client, using 70% Isopropyl alcohol, Barbicide and other Disinfectants, etc.)

I am Barbicide certified, and Barbicide Covid-19 Certified to protect my clients.

My Business

Creating Makeup by Rowyn LLC

Although I am well versed in other services in cosmetology and offered other services in the past, makeup always has been my #1 passion! Deciding to specialize and go full time with makeup a couple years ago was the best decision I ever made!

To this day I am still learning and always continuing my education in makeup artistry and business management to be the best makeup artist and business owner I can be.

I mainly travel on-site (especially for weddings), do makeup in-studio in Grand Blanc, MI. I also often collaborate with other salons and photographers.

I pride myself in prioritizing my clients, having a luxurious kit and set-up, giving the modern client a celebrity experience with elite communication, providing a comfortable and relaxed, yet exciting, environment. As well as only hiring on other artists (for larger parties/projects) that also reflect my professionalism.
