I graduated from San Diego State University as a Communication Major. I am forever grateful for the memories and friends made during my time in San Diego.
I am very close with my family, and I love spending time with them whenever I can. I am lucky to be best friends with my two sisters.
I have a passion for advocating for the inclusion of individuals with all abilities. The picture is from a campaign I started to end the use of the derogatory "R" word.
ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Makenna Rubinstein. I grew up in Davis, CA, and I graduated from San Diego State University in 2020. My most valued occupations include spending time with my family and friends, playing soccer with my sisters Brooke and Paige, nannying triplets, and watching Masterchef. My cousin who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, was my original inspiration to advocate for the inclusion of all people, no matter their differences. My deep rooted passion for children with disabilities, led me to discover the profession of Occupational Therapy. Through my recent position at an Autism & Apraxia OT clinic, I developed a strong interest in Sensory Integration, and I am excited for the opportunity to expand this knowledge. While I enter the MSOT program with an enthusiasm for pediatrics, I am excited to explore the depth of Occupational Therapy, and all that the profession entails. I highly value community, meaningful relationships, and inclusion, and I am confident that my experience at Dominican University will allow me the tools and opportunities to succeed. Throughout this new journey, I promise to remain grateful, passionate, and determined to be a better version of myself with each new day.
