Manila American Cemetery

This is where MAJ James J O'Donovan is buried now

The Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines occupies 152 acres on a prominent plateau, visible at a distance from the east, south and west. It contains the largest number of graves of American military dead of World War II, a total of 17,184, most of whom lost their lives in operations in New Guinea and the Philippines.

James O'Donovan was buried here in 1952 as an "Unknown", but formerly classified documents reveal that he is buried in Plot H, Row 10, Grave #140.

Carved into the walls of the memorial are the names of the servicemen who are or are believed to be buried at this place, including MAJ O'Donovan.

The following pictures were taken by James J Unwin, Grandson of Major James J O'Donovan in spring of 2018.
