Scholarships and Financial Aid

Tuition Assistance

Media Studies tuition assistance awards. The Media Studies department offers outstanding MA students a limited number of opportunities for tuition assistance through internal scholarship funds available each year to new and current students. All internal awards decisions are made by the MA Committee, during Spring semester for the following Fall. The number and amounts of awards vary each year and are based on:

1. Student’s GPA; and
2. Special personal/family circumstances impacting a student’s need for tuition assistance.

3. The  applicant's  contributions to the Queens College community, as well as their field of practice or study.

Although applicants for tuition assistance awards do not have to be registered for classes in order to apply or be selected, all award recipients must be registered for a minimum of 9 graduate credits during the semester(s) the award is to be granted.

To be considered for departmental tuition assistance, please send a 500-word statement explaining why you are a worthy candidate via email to the MA Director by April 15th. Focus your statement on special attributes and needs that set you apart and qualify you for tuition assistance. You may address questions like:

To ensure full consideration, please apply as early as possible. Although only matriculated students in the MA program in Media Studies are eligible to receive tuition assistance, new applicants may apply for awards at the same time that they apply for admission to the MA program.

New applicants who apply by the March 1 deadline are much more likely to receive financial aid than those who apply later in the Spring or Summer. Most scholarship decisions are made by April 15.
