Maine District 4
Umpire Information
If you are interested in getting patches, or having embroidery done on your shirts and jackets, here is how you can do it:
I have the D4 patches, as well as the District and State Rockers with me. I also have several official Little League patches as well. All of these are available for $2/each.
There are two places that are set up to do embroidery:
Brady Screenprinting and Embroidery
464 Elm St, Biddeford
207-284-8531
RSD Graphics
158 Main St
East Waterboro
207-247-6430
Proper Placement: For consistency's sake, PLEASE ONLY have the patches attached to, or the embroidery added to, the UPPER LEFT CHEST of the shirt or jacket. Either ON the pocket (which can be done by removing the pocket then resewing it, or through the pocket if you don't plan on using it), or where the pocket would be.

Umpires working games should take a minute to review the below diagram. A very useful Cheat Sheet for positioning for both the 2-Umpire and 3-Umpire systems. The key to being in the proper position and using the proper rotation is PRACTICE. If possible, meet with your partner(s) 30-45 minutes prior to game time to review rotations and responsibilities - this will make for a much smoother game.
Tournament Guidelines for Umpires
Umpires should:
*Call/text each other the night before a game to discuss a pre-game meeting location, as well as coordinating shirt color. Meet 30-45 minutes prior to the start of the game.
*Discuss rotation and coverages for game situations
*Be dressed in the proper uniform (Blue or black cap, matching shirts, charcoal grey pants, black shoes)
Plate: Helmet/mask, chest protector, protective cup (males), shin guards, plate shoes, ball bag, brush, indicator (see insert to the right --->)
Bases: Cap, brush, indicator (see insert to the right --->)
-Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray, water (as needed)
Upon entering the field (all umpires should enter and leave together)
*Check perimeter of interior of field for gaps/holes in fencing, or extra equipment laying about
*Confirm field is properly lined
*All players properly attired, shirts tucked in, etc.
*Ensure only players or coaches actively involved in the game are in live ball territory - coaches are not allowed out of the dugouts during live ball activity, except in the capacity as a base coach or unless granted Time by an Umpire.
Below is a recommended Ejection Report, which should be used to document ANY Ejection of a Manager, Coach or Player during the Regular Season. This form will be the required form during Tournament Play
