Synopsis:

In a fantastical world built entirely from recycled materials, a hybrid creature is born inside a cramped chamber, assembled from tin cans and fragments of metal. Faceless, it is programmed by a machine to conform to the norms of an era where everyone wears a mask—not for protection, but to better hide from what they fear the most: their own truth.

Director Statement:

"Man 2.0" is a visual fable about the loss of identity in a society obsessed with appearances. Inspired by steampunk aesthetics and ecologically-driven dystopias, this short film explores how modern life reduces human beings to recyclable products: efficient, standardized, but stripped of essence. The use of raw materials, salvaged objects visually conveys the fragility of our humanity in the face of industrialization and social pressure. The masks symbolize the shifting identities we adopt to survive in a world where authenticity feels suspect. The confined room, meanwhile, becomes a metaphorical womb an incubator of alienation. Today, we each exist in our own individual chambers physically isolated, yet constantly connected to a filtered and standardized reality. This film seeks to question that condition: What remains of us beneath the surface?Mohamed Ait Hamou
