Speed Limit was the Original name for Magnolia. It was a band started by three brothers who took themselves just a little too seriously. Here is an Excerpt from the old Speed Limit website; "Sp33d Limit is a rock cover band made and started by three brothers; Tyler (the front man, bassist, and singer), Brayden (the lead guitarist), And Jack Johnson (the drummer/percussionist). The name "Sp33d Limit" was thought of whilst Brayden, Jack, and their mother where walking down the street talking about what they should name the band. Jack saw the sign saying "speed limit 35" and thought that speed limit wasn't a bad name, so he mentioned it to his mother and brother and they didn't think that it was a bad idea. Later that year Brayden thought of replacing the "E"s with 3's. Later, their good friend Jack joined as the rhythm guitarist. Thus, on July Twelfth, Twenty-Twenty Six, we became Magnolia.Â
We chose Magnolia because it felt like a better name for what the band had become. Something to make people happier, something who doesn't take it to seriously and is just happy to exist at all. These are the feelings that we felt whilst climbing on our grandmother's Magnolia tree, thus we became Magnolia. Magnolia also represents our transformation, starting as a young band known as Speed Limit, and soon blooming into the band known as Magnolia.
