Orchestra Assessment

Orchestra Assessment is held the 4th Wednesday in April at Minico High School

Directors register their high school/middle school orchestra ensembles to come and be adjudicated by three adjudicators for high school and two adjudicators for middle school. High School ensembles will participate in a Sight Reading exercise following their performance time slot with an adjudicator. Sight reading scores are 10% of the final ranking scores for high school ensembles. There are music requirements that must be fulfilled to avoid score deduction penalties for high school ensembles. Links to rules can be found in the director checklists. Middle school ensembles have no specific music requirements and generally perform 2-3 contrasting pieces. Time slots are 30 minute slots. Each time slot includes performance time and clinician clinic time. Sight reading does not factor into the performance time slot. The event formerly known as Festival.
