Despite my wanting to expand upon my existing projects, I am human and cannot resist the odd one-off drawing. It's a good break from work to draw something unrelated to what I'm working on. It allows more space for other ideas to bloom and the things I'm working on to occupy less space in my off-work headspace.
My favourite ideas to play with are disproportionate humanoid bodies. The form of a character can determine whether it is creepy or elegant.
Having something that is vaguely human in shape can be either comforting or freaky depending on who you ask. I think it can effectively be both.
The concept of elementals is a common fantasy trope that can lead to a lot of creativity. I however find that the most common depiction of such fantasy creatures is too human-like for my liking, and takes away from the creativity of what a creature made from natural elements would look like. In this little project, I explored incorporating more of the actual element into the designs of elementals, to give them a shape more suited to what they represent.
