America's classrooms are facing a critical teacher shortage. In Massachusetts, the shortage is especially acute, with 57% of schools reporting unfilled teaching vacancies, 10% higher than the national average. Something must be done to recruit talented, highly trained individuals to help grow the teaching profession. Educators Rising is a program dedicated to growing young future educators starting as early as middle school.
Through our Grow Your Own educator pathway, we have an opportunity to prepare students for their new careers earlier and keep them local once they enter the workforce since 60% of all teachers teach within 20 miles of where they went to school.
We work with schools to establish chapters and curricula, giving students early exposure to various education career options. In turn, districts hire their students back after they’ve earned their teaching credentials. You can be a part of making this happen for young people in Massachusetts.
Here are some ways your donation can help support pre-service educators:
Create scholarships for student membership fees and other program costs, especially for students who may not otherwise have the means to participate.
Provide scholarships for students attending state or national conferences to learn, compete, and network to build community.
Cover the cost of conferences that provide professional learning, networking, and future growth opportunities for Massachusetts students.
Cover associated program fees for educational speakers, venues, travel costs, and program materials.
Thank you for your generous donation! Your support helps young prospective educators and develops the educator workforce in Massachusetts.
