Shingo Maeda laboratory promotes research on soft materials, soft actuators, pumps, sensors, and soft robots. Our research focuses on the unique properties of soft materials to create autonomous functions and various devices. We are a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Science Tokyo. We take part in the Research Center for Autonomous Systems Materialogy (ASMat) to integrate different fields.
Our projects are:
SOFT ROBOTICS
We create soft actuators, pumps, and sensors. We design soft robots and wearable devices.
KEYWORDS: dielectric elastomer actuators/sensors, soft pumps
CHEMICAL ROBOTICS
We develop autonomous soft machines driven by chemical reactions.
KEYWORDS: autonomous materials, gel robots, gel motors, artificial biological clock
SOFT MATERIALS
We study mechanics of soft materials.
KEYWORDS: gels, elastomers, porous materials
If you are interested in our lab, please apply for admission from the webpage of Mechanical Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology. We are always open to hear from passionate students and researchers who want to visit and see our lab.
