Take some time to go through the tune and mark any notes or rhythms that might be tricky. Do you need to look up a fingering in the fingering chart? Do you need to practice a rhythm? Make sure to do that before you begin.

Speak the melody using note names
Finger the notes while speaking the melody
Play the melody
