Within my Senior year of Hutchins I joined the Hutchins Connect Program that Margaret and other students have created for the Hutchins School. The program allows all students from all years, or even alumni to come together and discuss topics surrounding race! I took charge in being the Social Media Coordinator for the Instagram, Tik tok, Facebook, and creating new brochures and flyers for the program as a whole! I was so grateful to be able to benefit the program, and get to promote how amazing it is through a passion I love so dearly.
I redesigned the entire look of the Instagram page, creating a theme, and more organization throughout the platform. I was in charge of creating flyers, posts, stories, etc. that looked aesthetically pleasing, and bringing attention to the Hutchins program through the social media page. It was so much fun getting to work freely, and have endless options for what I could create for a project, a tabling event, or important dates coming up!
Was given the opportunity to get to create new flyers, and a new brochure for the Hutchins School for Margaret and the School as a whole. It was so much fun getting to have no limitations for what I could create. I had help from my friend Jack to create the brochure, he added most of the text while I was in charge of the whole layout, editing it all to look aesthetically pleasing, and came up with the designs and how the brochure overall looked.
I was extremely proud of all the different templates/ designs I created for the brochure, and the upper-division page was definitely one of my favorites. It was a blast getting to do any design I wanted to, and see all of it come together.
More Examples from the Brochure for the overall design/ layout I created.
The Circle Campaign is the new focus that I was taking part in helping develop my last year with the program. The Circle Campaign signifies the human need and endless ability to come together as equals and be in meaningful conversation together. And,YES! WE do talk about race in Hutchins and in our circles we often launch our conversations with a go-around of questions to identify the many directions we can take as we explore such topics as privilege, power structures, intersectionality and systemic racism.
All my continued work, and help with the program can be easily accessible through the link tree provided under the Mission story highlight on the ssuhutchins Instagram account!
