One of my all time favorite presentations/ projects I got to do for Hutchins. I got to make a new discovery trying to prove if the Stanley Hotel was actually haunted or not based off of my research on the hotel's background. I can come to a very respectfully yes that it is haunted!
This was my first ever essay I was extremely proud of writing the first year with the Hutchins program. I had the opportunity to express myself through the usage of drawings I drew myself, and tie those emotions and heartbreak through my writing as well. It was the first moment I realized how much I appreciated being able to express how I was feeling through multiple sources of media.
Sound Trip Podcast was such an amazing project I got to partake in with Libs 320 A. It was so much fun having free range on what we could actually do the project on, and what platform to create the final product. I produced a podcast episode on my own, and discussed the stereotypes and assumptions people make based off of what genre do you believe sings the most often about drugs. I interviewed peers and got a new understanding of people's assumptions around the music world and the influence of drugs.
This was beyond one of my favorite books I have read throughout my time in the Hutchins School. It really allowed me to grasp a new understanding of previous thoughts I had from High School, and be able to adapt a new way of thinking into my starting years at the University. This book was a great introduction to the layout of how discussions work in Hutchins, and it allowed me to feel comfortable to start posing questions in seminar.
I never realized how wrong out educational system has been set up for children to flourish in their learning until now. This book allowed me to understand concepts of the brain, and how our brains grow/ what we should be doing in order to promote proper growth for children. It really allowed me to grasp harder concepts more easily, and was so much learning about the proper techniques we need to implement into schools.
