Madeline Peterson - 2027

Softball has been my passion since I was five years old. I began playing competitive travel softball at age nine and have remained with the same team ever since. That experience has strengthened not only my love for the game but also my appreciation for teamwork, commitment, and long-term dedication.

At Lake City High School (Idaho 6A), I was one of only two freshmen to earn a spot on the varsity team. I started at first base and batted fifth in the lineup throughout the season. During my sophomore year, I began as the second pitcher behind a senior but quickly earned the starting role through my performance, finishing the season with more than 100 strikeouts in just 18 games.

My junior season was one to remember. Our team defeated our cross-town rivals, who were ranked second in the state, in two exciting games to win the district title and earn a trip to the state tournament—the first time Lake City had qualified since 2019. I had the opportunity to pitch both games, and helping my teammates and our seniors achieve that goal was one of the most rewarding experiences of my athletic career.

I take pride in being a positive leader and teammate. I lead by example on the field and strive to encourage and support my teammates during every game and practice. I believe that great teams are built on trust, accountability, and a willingness to put the team's success first.

Growing up, I competed in multiple sports, including cross country, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and softball. I continued to play volleyball, my first two years of high school and being a multi-sport athlete has helped develop my athleticism, competitiveness, and mental toughness.

Academics are just as important to me as athletics. I work hard to balance the demands of school with my commitment to sports, and I look forward to continuing to challenge myself in the classroom while pursuing my goal of playing collegiate softball.

I am looking for a competitive college program where I can contribute on the field, continue to grow as both a player and teammate, and pursue a strong academic degree. I am excited for the opportunity to compete at the next level and represent a program with dedication, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
