racism

                                  Introduction

Racism is a complex and pervasive issue that has accrued over 100s of years and become less racist over the years but still is really bad and that's why I'm talking to you guys about this topic. Racism has had a big impact on people's lives in many ways and may lead to changing everything about them.

                           What is racism?

Racial bullying, or just bullying, is when someone is physically or abused, in person or online because of their race or skin colour. For kids and young people racial bullying at school could be their most common experience of racism. Harassment to a different race can make a person feel sad, angry, disrespected and even depressed. Some schools in America have classes for racism. They learn what it is and how they can stop it if it happens around them and the history around it. These classes help kids understand what and how this thing of racism started.

                                         slavery

Back in the old days different races did not have a choice. Negroes, hispanic, asian and many more, those were the most discriminated by white people because of their culture and some were used for slavery and workers and treated terribly. They were traded for money and food so they could work on that person's ranch or in their house for the rest of their lives. Then it all changed on December 6, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln took a stand and put all his power to stop slavery so everyone can have a good life.

Many experts believe slavery was a big issue with African American people been used for personal slaves over 400 years. Experts have said that slavery could be the cause of racism today since slavery has been mitigated.

          How are people racist?

Individual racism is negative stereotypes, attitudes or beliefs held by a person that are based on the idea of one group being superior to another. These ideas can be about one’s own ethnic group or about other groups. People use offensive words, racial slurs, and many more ways. Research has proven the race that is most racist are europeans. Stories of 300 years ago of the European settlers taking over native american land and calling it there's. Some might agree but the Europeans, when they landed in Aotearoa they raided maoris land and stole it. Over the years from then they've made names for towns. Like it was Aotearoa me Te Waipounamu before it was New Zealand, hamilton was Kirikiriroa, and auckland was Tamaki makaurau. Racism isn't a big thing in New Zealand but it still goes around alot, there's been reports of teachers not respecting some students like the others. Calling them hurtful words and still the students get blamed and get suspended for proving their point.

What can new zealand do about racism

Racism is a global problem. Around the world countries are creating practical plans to end racism. The New Zealand Government has committed to developing a national action plan against racism that reflects the history, challenges, and aspirations of Aotearoa New Zealand. As I said, Some schools in America have classes for racism. They learn what it is and how they can stop it if it happens around them and the history around it. These classes help kids understand what and how this thing of racism started. Eliminating racism will take time and determination. The plan will be big steps for the Government to take, and provide guidance for communities and businesses to support their own solutions.

                              Thesis

To mitigate racism in New Zealand we need to find a way so people understand that racism isn't worth trying. If we make these classes around New Zealand, the tamariki of our country can learn to be better human beings. Making classes about racism would determinate all racism around new zealand.

                                       Conclusion

Overall racism is a bad situation and will be mitigated in a few years in new zealand. It is planned to demolish it before it gets worse. Government of justice is in charge of racism and is doing everything that they can to end racism. Make racism good again.
