It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation in support of this outstanding student from Dalhart High School, Kammi Maddox. Throughout her high school career, she has consistently distinguished herself through academic excellence, exceptional leadership, and an extraordinary commitment to service, athletics, and her community.
Kammi has demonstrated remarkable dedication through her extensive involvement in extracurricular activities. She has competed at the varsity level in volleyball, basketball, track, and tennis while also serving in Student Council, the National Honor Society, and as Student Body Class President. Balancing such a demanding schedule requires discipline, perseverance, and time management skills, all of which Kammi exhibits at a high level. As class president, she has taken on meaningful responsibilities, including leading athletic support initiatives and coordinating Project Graduation, further demonstrating her ability to lead peers with confidence and integrity.
Kammi’s athletic achievements are equally impressive. She has earned numerous honors, including All District and MVP recognitions in both volleyball and basketball, Regional Qualifier in Doubles Tennis, and multiple All-State distinctions through the TGCA, TSWA, and TABC organizations. These accomplishments reflect not only her natural talent, but also her strong work ethic, resilience, and commitment to excellence. Kammi is a leader on and off the court and serves as a role model for younger athletes.
Beyond school, she is deeply committed to serving others. Kammi is an active member of the Hillside Youth Group and the United Methodist Church and volunteers regularly at community events such as Oktoberfest, concession stands for athletic events, homecoming activities, and prom decorating. She also participates annually in charitable efforts such as donating Christmas gifts for those in need and supporting community causes through fundraising. Additionally, her involvement with Sub Debs’,a local service oriented sorority, requires a minimum of 20 service hours each year, a commitment she fulfills through consistent and meaningful volunteer work.
Kammi plans to attend Texas Tech University to pursue a degree in nursing. Her desire to serve others aligns perfectly with her chosen career path, and her strong academic foundation, leadership experience, and compassion for others will undoubtedly make her an asset to the university community. She has expressed a need for financial assistance, and any scholarship support will significantly help her achieve her educational and professional goals.
Kammi exemplifies the qualities scholarship committees seek: leadership, dedication, service, and character. I recommend her without reservation for scholarship consideration and am confident she will continue to make a positive and lasting impact wherever she goes.
Sincerely,
Misty Bornemeier

To whom it may concern,
I’m writing this letter to give my full support to Kammi Maddox as she applies for your scholarship. I’ve had the privilege of being her Health Science teacher at Dalhart High School for the last three years, and after seeing her work ethic and heart firsthand, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of your investment.
Teaching the same student for three years is a unique experience. I’ve watched Kammi grow from an interested beginner to a confident student-leader. In my classroom, she isn’t just there to check off a requirement; she’s genuinely curious about healthcare. She is currently on track to earn her CNA certification before she even crosses the graduation stage, a testament to her discipline and her readiness to jump into the clinical world.
What really sets Kammi apart is how she handles her life outside the classroom. Between her dedication to athletics and her involvement in our community, she’s mastered a balancing act that most adults find difficult. Being a student-athlete has given her a level of grit and teamwork that will serve her incredibly well in a fast-paced hospital setting. She knows how to handle pressure and how to show up for her team; these are traits that define a great nurse.
After graduation, Kammi will be heading to Texas Tech University to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have total confidence that she’ll make a fantastic nurse. She is exactly the kind of student we should be encouraging to enter the medical field; she has the heart and the work ethic to make a real impact.
I look forward to the day Kammi joins the nursing profession. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
