meet the artist

Ava Stanczak is a Los Angeles-born and based artist whose practice centers on jewelry, sculptural objects, and fiber-based works. Working primarily through metal fabrication and lost-wax casting, she creates pieces that draw inspiration from Renaissance ornamentation, chainmail traditions, gothic aesthetics, coastal environments, and the intricate forms of nature.

Stanczak's work explores the relationship between adornment, history, and material transformation by combining traditional metalsmithing techniques with contemporary perspectives. Through detailed craftsmanship and an interest in both natural and historical references, her pieces investigate themes of protection, beauty, and personal expression.

She is currently pursuing a certificate in Metalsmithing and working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Long Beach City College. Her work has been featured in two annual student art exhibitions at the college. Stanczak is a graduate of Palos Verdes High School and continues to develop a multidisciplinary practice based in the South Bay and Los Angeles region.
