On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the wind speed in Leonardtown, MD, was breezy, blowing generally out of the northwest at sustained speeds of 10 to 13 mph during the day, with evening gusts occasionally reaching up to 17 mph
After flying autonomously to survey the field we identified the coordinated of the targets at approximately:
Target 1: 38.2712819, -76.6134247
Target 2: 38.2712524, -76.6141436
Drop 1, (with Zack Norris)
The balls were dropped manually from around 50ft of altitude, and may have strayed from the target while falling due to the wind.
Our first drop was about 15 yards from target one.
Our second drop was only about 10 yards from the 2nd target.
Drop 2
On the return flight for the final flight, our drone's battery malfunctioned, causing it to fall out of the air. The drone itself maintaned no mechanical damage, as the impact force was absorbed by the landing gear.
