Sustainable Development:

Structural Change and the Environment

Program available

2024 MACRO-HET Workshop

The 2024 MACRO-HET Workshop will be held at the University of Siena, Italy, from 16 to 18 October 2024, under the theme Sustainable Development: Structural Change and the Environment. Siena is historically linked to commercial and banking activities and is home to the world's oldest bank, the Monte dei Paschi. With around 50 thousand inhabitants, it receives visitors worldwide, especially during the Palio days. Its university offers a most pleasant atmosphere during the fall and the return of academic activities. We aim to create a forum to discuss new approaches, methods, and techniques for addressing inclusive development in the global North and South, emphasising the ongoing environmental crisis.

Economic theory has witnessed a critical shift in its methodology due to challenges presented after the Great Financial Crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and more recent geopolitical tensions. Finding solutions requires an interdisciplinary approach open to cross-fertilisation of fields, tools, and narratives. The University of Siena has a long tradition of sponsoring pluralism in economics. Following this, the present workshop welcomes a variety of methodological approaches and themes, including:

6. Heterogeneous Agents + Agent-Based Models (HAMs + ABMs)

7. Monetary Policy, Exchange rates, and Public Debt

There is no registration fee associated with this event. Check out the confirmed Keynote Speakers and our Program.
