Hello all. I understand that things are very different than what we are used to and want you to know that I am here for you, should you need anything. I am going to be using this page to give you some things that you can do while we are out of school. These things are NOT mandatory and will NOT be graded, but will help you in any of three ways: keeping you up to date with the material that we have already learned, possibly learning some useful skills, giving you something else to focus on.
Newton's Cradle
In STEMScopes, I will be making the online text (STEMSCopedia) available for you to read and answer questions, if you choose. Also, in STEMScopes, I will make two Science Readings (An Amazing Ride & Magnets and Potential Energy). While I was absent, I also assigned "Energy in a Skate Park," which you are welcome to work on. Remember that these are not graded nor are they mandatory.

There are plenty of articles available through this website:
Crazy Contraption (current issue) shows a Rube Goldberg machine and is a great example of using potential energy in a fun way.
Catching Big Air (February 2018) shows how potential energy is important in snowboarding, especially in extreme sports.
If you are looking to learn something that will benefit you for the rest of you life, there are plenty of things that you can learn from your parents that might also help them.
Before following any of these suggestions, please make sure that you have your parents permission first.
Get some exercise of some sort. You can do pushups, air squats, burpees for an in-home workout. Ride your bike, take your dog for a walk, go for a jog. With three weeks of school and sports activities cancelled, you might find that getting your body active in some way will help tremendously with any frustration that you might be feeling. Getting outside and breathing fresh air is also very helpful.
There are plenty of interesting Science-related articles in Science World.
Read books that you find fun, interesting, and relaxing.
