FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global youth-serving nonprofit advancing STEM education that puts together competitions to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
The FRC competition challenges high school students (9th - 12th grade) to raise funds, design a team, sharpen teamwork skills, and build and program a five-foot-tall robot to compete against other competitors. The team requires students with all kinds of skills whether that skill would be graphic design, CAD designing, programming, or business management.
