EXPODIRECT FAIR COTRIJAL
Expodireto Cotrijal is one of the largest international agribusiness fairs. Focused on technology and business, it contributes decisively to the development of the sector as a whole. The main objective is to bring the producer closer to knowledge, information, technology consecrated and enshrined in research bodies or private companies, to great business opportunities and also to important debates related to the rural environment.
The benefits of the fair range from the information assimilated in an informal conversation between the researcher and the rural producer, to lectures with a specific focus, through static and dynamic demonstration of products and services. Everything is available to be known, evaluated and adopted. The broad programming shortens paths between the sources that generate technology and the rural producer.

Visiting Sapiens Park
Sapiens Parque is an innovation park that has infrastructure and dedicates its space to housing ventures, projects and other innovative strategic initiatives for the development of a region. The great differential of this model is having an innovative model to attract, develop, implement and integrate initiatives with the objective of establishing a differentiated, sustainable and competitive positioning.
Therefore, the infrastructure is designed to promote a differentiated environment that encourages and facilitates the innovative spirit and cooperation between people. And it goes even further, as the space offers support systems to attract and train talents and businesses capable of uniting ideas and knowledge, transforming them into new products and services. Initiatives that will return to society in the form of sustainable socio-economic-environmental development in the region.

Syringe Arm Design
Students of the Statics Mechanics discipline present the project of hydraulic syringe arms, on November 22, 2017.
The objective was to develop the design and construction of a hydraulic arm made of recyclable material that uses the Pascal principle as a physical system, in which the arm performs movements transferring objects from one point to another. With the development of the projects, it was possible to accurately verify its operation and its characteristics, using the so-called injection syringes.
The activity was presented as a challenge activity in the discipline of General Static Mechanics. For the teacher, “the work presented exceeded expectations, as the introduction of students into the project environment in practical activities is one of the ways to interact with the context of experience based on a problematized and contextualized teaching, seeking to reinforce the construction of a teaching that privileges the most current methodological aspects, such as interdisciplinarity, contextualization and flexibility”.
Auto Show
In 2016, the show brought together 540 vehicles from 34 brands distributed in 90 thousand square meters of internal space. The automakers added more than 1,200 hours of interactive activities. In the outdoor area of the pavilion, another 20 thousand square meters were destined to test drives and experiences of brands such as Chevrolet, Peugeot, Land Rover, Volkswagen and Nissan.

Professors and students of the Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering course at URI, Santo Ângelo campus, participated in the 25th edition of the Subcontracting and Industrial Innovation Fair – Mercopar, in Caxias do Sul, held on October 5, 2016.
Bringing together around 300 exhibitors from Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo, in addition to China, the launches, novelties and products that are highlights in the industrial automation, rubber, electronics, energy and the environment, metal mechanics, material handling and storage, plastic and industrial services, creating an environment where the exchange of information is also important for closing and forwarding deals.
According to professor Filipe Molinar, mechanical engineering always seeks to seek new knowledge in the part of machine technology, passing these technologies directly to future engineers and also to improve projects related to machines and industrial products.
The purpose of the technical visit was to verify the technological innovations coming from the primary production sector. In this sense, they were able to understand how cooperativism and agribusiness are equally strengthened with the actions developed at the fair.
VI Exhibition of the Gadget Project
Held this Thursday, June 16, 2016, the sixth edition of the Engenhocas project of the mechanical engineering course. The event brings together prototypes of vehicles without engines or traction mechanisms manned by one person, the pilot. They are built for the purpose of running or playing when descending steep slopes. The vehicles were designed and built by students of the first semester of mechanical engineering, in the discipline of Introduction to Engineering, taught by prof. Filipe Molinar Machado.
The objective of the project was to challenge mechanical engineering students to build the prototype and compete with it, motivating them in the course and developing skills and competences in their academic training.
Before the race, the vehicles were examined by a team of judges made up of engineering students and members of the URIBAJA project. The projects were evaluated in terms of creativity and design, sustainability, comfort, finishing, steering system, brake system and safety.
The race took place from 09h, where the competitors went down the slope of 200m of the secondary access of the URI. In addition to the competition, there was also a fraternization lunch, integrating students, employees and sponsors.
Participating in the II Workshop of specialists in product development and innovation, at USP.
The focus of this edition of WeDPI was Product-Service Systems (PSS) and Servitization, which are topics that have emerged as global trends. This approach has provided product-oriented manufacturing companies with a new business model that provides services.
Concepts and practices that have been applied by companies such as Rolls Royce, Xerox, Canon, General Electric, Whirlpool, ABB, Parkersell, Electrolux, Call a Bike, among others, were discussed to generate a greater offer of value.
The workshop featured lectures, round tables with industry experts, and dynamics with the participation of international researchers from world-renowned research centers in PSS and Servitization, such as the Technical University of Denmark (DTU - Denmark) and the University of Cambridge ( United Kingdom).

Mechanical Engineering carries out social action at Ecos do Verde
During December 11, 2015, students of the mechanical engineering course, in the Machine Dynamics discipline, delivered a cart for collecting recycled material and a can press system attached to the cart to employees of the Association of Recycling and Environmental Education – ECOS do VERDE, from Santo Ângelo.
The objective of the social action was to develop the design and construction of a cart for collecting recyclable material that uses human traction as a driving force, aiming to improve the quality of life of the collectors and increase the efficiency of the collection process. The construction was carried out by the academics in the laboratories of the mechanical engineering course.
The university's action through Ecos do Verde highlights the relevance of the services provided by the entity, whose mission is to “fight for the defense of the Environment”. In this way, the more recyclable materials are no longer garbage, the less garbage is landfilled, the cleaner the city, and nature preserved.
According to the professor of the discipline, Filipe Molinar Machado, this research has a social contribution, providing more dignified working conditions to recyclable material collectors and directly promoting the selective collection and recycling of materials, factors of great importance for the reduction of environmental degradation.

Mechanical engineering students develop the bicymachine project
The bicymachine project, aimed at sustainable development, was built from recyclable materials and is easily accessible, does not produce pollution, does not need energy to function and provides healthy exercise. It has a wide range of applications, being able to be used in domestic work, rural, on roads and even in small companies, as the function of water pump, grinder, thresher, washing machine, electricity generator and also blender.
With the use of added power on the pedal as a form of energy and also as a source for the promotion of these low-tech products, the principle of a bicimachine is to invert the mechanism of the bicycle, maintaining its good ease and being a quick alternative to transmit the move to the desired function.
The aim of the project is to build a bicymachine with a less complex mechanism, this being a common kitchen blender adapted to a converted bicycle. Composed of a transmission system designed to take advantage of the rotation of the wheel and leading to the blender cup. It uses the strength of the legs to resemble the performance of a normal blender.
Under the guidance of Professor Filipe Molinar Machado and the Course Coordinator Flávio Vanderlei Zancanaro Junior, students Alisson Renan Stochero, André Almeida, Andreas Mutter, Celito Kraemer, Eduardo Luis Damke, Fernando Radmann Knorst, Gabriele Juliani Jacques, Glênio Zaltron, Guilherme Panzenhagem, Jonathan Steinhaus, Lorenzo Brutes, Natan Alexandre Oliveira, Patrick Bade Batista, Thais dos Santos Haas and Veridiane Dalcin Mello are being set in practical and sustainable activities provided by the mechanical engineering course at URI.
