Purpose.
The purpose of this study is to dive deeper into social and economic experiences of inclusion and/or exclusion uncovered from the findings of Study 1 using various qualitative methods.
Procedure. In short.
These methods include semi-structured interviews and focus groups to help the research team better understand the complexity of experiences informing statistical trends. The research team received money from MacEwan University to provide translation services where required. This approach entails members of the research team accompanying community participants for a half-day as they travel throughout the city (typically on public transit) and access social and community services. This approach uncovers issues related to accessing services and transportation.
A total of 50 participants will be recruited through our Community Connectors across all methods (interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic 'walk-abouts'). The research team and community stakeholders will develop the interview schedule for the semi-structured individual interviews, the focus group, and questions posed during the walk-about.
