Assistant/Pitching Coach for Hazel Green Softball
I’m Coach Mac, and I specialize in training pitchers to develop power, control, confidence, and grit. As a former D1 pitcher with a decorated career, I bring firsthand experience, high-level insight, and a deep passion for helping athletes reach their full potential.
My accolades include

2023 SoCon Pitcher of the Year

My coaching style blends technical mechanics, explosive movement training, and the mental side of the game. I teach athletes not just how to pitch, but why, building their understanding, decision-making, and trust in themselves.
Every lesson is customized to the athlete’s age, experience, and needs. Whether it’s building strength, gaining speed, improving command, or learning how to stay calm and focused under pressure, I meet them where they are.
My goal isn’t just to develop pitchers. It’s to build confident young women who compete with heart, prepare with purpose, and lead with resilience.
My Story
I started playing softball at the age of 6 and quickly fell in love with the game. With an older sister who played, I’ve been around softball since I was born. Watching her catch inspired me to become a pitcher, and from that moment on, I trained with my dad until I was 14-15, when I began working with Holly Currie Murdock.
Throughout my high school career, I played varsity from 8th through 12th grade and won two state championships, one as an 8th grader and the other as a senior, with the support of incredible teammates and coaches. I earned a scholarship to Samford University, where I was a three-year starter. My time there taught me lessons that shaped my coaching philosophy and character. After transferring to Southern Illinois, I helped my team earn a regular season title and came just short in the championship game.
One of my biggest passions is advocating for student-athlete mental health, prioritizing the development of young athletes, and preventing overuse injuries in athletes. Throughout my career, I've been diagnosed multiple times with overuse injuries; for example, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
I learned many things that I want to share with these young athletes. If your daughter is wanting to play D1 softball but doesn't know what it takes to be one, I can give insight. My goal is to help grow the Huntsville area and share the knowledge that I've gained through human development and first-hand D1 experiences and apply it to the pitching side.
I'm excited to be back home, ready to grow the game and help young pitchers develop both on and off the field while chasing their goals.
My "Why"
I coach to help young athletes feel powerful mentally, physically, and emotionally. Every girl deserves a safe space to grow, gain confidence, and become a leader on and off the field. Softball is just the start.
Fun Facts
I have a puppy that takes up my time outside of softball; she's very spoiled and loved.
I graduated with a Bachelor of University Studies, but 90% of my degree is in Human Development and Family Science. I eventually want to go back to school and do sports/developmental psychology or kinesiology
My favorite pitch to throw was my curveball; I could place it on either side of the plate, but I threw every pitch.
I had opportunities to play Power 5 softball in the portal but decided mid-major was best for me due to an unknown (at that time) health issue. My goal was to find somewhere that would take care of me physically, mentally, and medically.
I started pitching at the age of 6 years old and never looked back. I was also a catcher too up until 12u-ish.
