About Us

Our Mission

Many competitions in the local area are designed to challenge the most experienced competitors. As such, for novice competitors, attending these events can be disheartening, as they can often do very little on the tests and don't rank well in comparison to other students. These experiences, for younger students, can discourage their participation in future events, math competitions, and the math community.
This is where we come in! M Snake is a volunteer-run local math competition made for Newton middle-school students. Given the lack of local entry-level math competitions, M Snake aims to provide an encouraging introduction to the competitive-math world. Its main goal is to foster an environment that welcomes students considering exploring STEM and to give them an experience that could kickstart their enthusiasm for it; to act as a 'stepping stone' that can lead to students' future participation in competitive math.
We hope to attract students with little prior competition experience and give them an opportunity to meet new friends, get excited about math, and have fun solving problems with their peers.

We are incredibly grateful to our faculty advisor Mr. Petrizzi for his support in making this event possible, and Newton South for generously permitting us to use the space. Thank you as well to all of our wonderful volunteers; the value of your effort is immeasurable.
