Below are a few output samples for various projects relying entirely on the relationship between words and images.
This infographic started out as a class project but was later published by UNESCO-ICHCAP. The different sections have analyses of various aspects related to the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and its tenth anniversary.
UNESCO-ICHCAP wanted graphical illustrations for their annual report and asked me to throw a few together. They gave me specific instructions and the data they wanted presented. I developed a color theme based on the original dark blue report cover for continuity. I imported the Excel information into Illustrator and highlighted the areas they wanted.
When researching ideas for a class project, I stumbled across an image for an elementary school art/science class. (The link to the original source is no longer available.) To be polite, the visuals needed an upgrade; they were scribbles on paper. The original document was in Spanish, so I also needed to do some translation. It was a fun project. The results are decent enough and can certainly be used in a classroom environment.
During the update of the UNESCO-ICHCAAP website, I was tasked with creating an interactive map with links to the relevant UNESCO web pages. The focus is on the States Party to the Convention, but additional information is available for other states. The organization is currently working on a website update, so the information has not been updated in a while. For now, the map is available on the UNESCO-ICHCAP website.
As a follow-up to the UNESCO Representative List infographic, UNESCO-ICHCAP asked me to make a new infographic concerning the UNESCO List of Best Safeguarding Practices. This was published in English and Korean for volume 25, which is based on the old ICH Courier format. (More information about the ICH Courier upgrade is available here.)
