GELANG PATAH, JOHOR
Kampung Sungai Melayu is a small Malay community predominantly occupied by fishermen. Located at the southernmost point of Johor, the village previously served as strategic point for Japanese Imperial Army to launch attacks on Singapore during the war.
Kampung Sungai Melayu is surrounded by a mangrove forest, it is well-known as a sanctuary for birds and diverse mangrove-dwelling creatures. Situated along the Strait of Johor, it is one of the last remaining traditional Malay fishing villages.
