Design Pre-Thesis 2 [Urbanism]
RE:URBAN
RE:URBAN
The Design Pre-Thesis 2 is an advanced level architectural design studio that focuses on the Urbanism theme. It provides a unique opportunity for the students to pursue a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to) urban conservation, sustainable urbanism, future cities, smart cities, space syntax, resilient cities, urban economic issues, eco urbanisms and so on.
Each student will independently embark on an exploratory journey related to the design programme. They are required to use the brief formulated from the companion course MBEA1223 and use it as the guiding principle for their design development.
Re:Urban challenges conventional urban design principles by prioritizing social, environmental, and economic sustainability in urban regeneration. The studio analyzes street connectivity and visibility factors to establish a central spine within the city fabric. Re:Urban embracing tactical urbanism approach to reshape and regenerate cities, forging a new era of sustainability, connectivity, and livability in urban regeneration.
With unwavering dedication to people-oriented design, Re:Urban seamlessly integrates lush green spaces, inviting nature to intertwine with city life, nurturing well-being and ecological harmony. Inclusivity flourishes as mixed-use developments and universal design principles create vibrant communities, embracing diversity and fostering a sense of belonging where tactical interventions enhance accessibility and activate underutilized spaces.
