Lyon County Elementary School PTO Scholarship:
Each year the Lyon County Elementary School PTO funds one monetary scholarship for a Lyon County High School senior in the amount of $250. This scholarship was established by the Lyon County Schools PTO as a long standing tradition to recognize a graduating senior who has maintained high standards in both academics and school citizenship.
The PTO Scholarship is awarded to “students whose personal and scholastic qualities and values serve as a positive example to all Lyon County students."
Applicants will be evaluated based on several criteria including outstanding character, leadership, academic honors, and community service. Preference will be on those who volunteer with children at Lyon County Elementary school through PTO events and other activities associated with LCES students.
Criteria:
Applicant must have attended Lyon County Elementary School for at least two academic years.
Applicant must submit your high school transcripts.
Applicant must submit an essay.
The personal essay should include:
A. What is your favorite LCES memory?
B. How has LCES had an impact on your life?
C. How have you made a positive difference in your
community, school, family, etc.?
D. List your volunteer hours with LCES students, LCES PTO events and related LCES activities.
E. List your community service activities, hobbies, outside interests and extracurricular activities.
F. List any honors and awards while in high school.
Selection board: includes both PTO teacher representatives, the current PTO president, and one other PTO officer not related to any of the applicants.
If you are selected as a recipient of a PTO scholarship, you will be recognized at the senior awards assembly during your senior year and will receive a one-time $250 award from the LCES PTO scholarship fund.

Application Deadline: March 15th.
