Lund Church

Reverend Carol Fisher-Bailey left at the end of September 2022, so Lund is currently without a vicar and will be starting the process of advertising for a replacement shortly.  The whole procedure will probably take six months to complete and hopefully by the middle of next year, we will have a new vicar in post.

The Church is available for hire for events -

Some interesting facts

The cost of having a part time vicar, including salary, pension contributions, house, etc for the four parishes of Lockington, Lund, Scorborough and Leconfield is approximately £48,000 per year, unfortunately the four parishes in total are only managing to contribute around £14,000 per year and so the Diocese of York have to find funds to balance the costs.  This isn't unusual, it is happening in more than half of the churches in the area.  The Diocese has been dipping into reserves and contributing £600,000 each year to cover similar situations.

The new vicar will be what is known as a House for Duty Priest, in other words, they will not receive a salary but will be able to live in the rectory, free of charge and carry out Sunday Services, Weddings, Funerals and Christenings, and work two days a week in the four parishes.

The church in the village costs approximately £10,000 pounds a year to keep open, money that we have to raise as sadly this is NOT funded from a central point,.
