To take full advantage of luminosity masks you should adjust your Color Settings in Photoshop

The instructions for setting you Color Settings in Ps are in the TK download but the basics are:

1. Go to the Edit Menu > Color Settings…
2. In the Working Spaces box:
   1. Choose your preferred RGB space
   2. Choose the matching Gray space
   3. Then save them at the top if you switch between spaces so you can easily get them
3. The settings for the 3 most common color spaces are:
   1. Adobe RGB matches with Gray Gamma 2.2
   2. ProPhotog RGB matches with Gray Gamma 1.8
   3. sRGB matches with sGray

Both of these free downloads are basically advertisements for the full Photoshop enhancement tools that these two photographers sell. I neither recommend nor discourage those products but I will say that you should master the basics of Photoshop before you add additional enhancements. Just as mastering the concept of normal masks allows you to start taking advantage of luminosity masks.

Keep in Mind....

• When leaving the Channels Panel make sure the RGB channels are selected and not the new luminosity channels. Otherwise you'll get an odd display.
• Remember you don't have to create all the masks. The rapid mask is rapid so you can just create any you want on the fly.
• Don't forget that any of the masks can be adjusted with simple Levels controls for example or with the paint brush or other paint tools.
