Lumen Notes Privacy Policy Last updated: October 6, 2026
Lumen Notes is made by Joseph Sellu This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
Your notes, prayers and studies stay on your device. Sermon notes, reflections, prayers (including private prayers locked with Face ID), highlights, reading plans and study history are stored only on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. We can't see them. They're included in your device's own backup (such as iCloud Backup) and in any backup file you choose to export.
No account, no ads, no tracking. Lumen Notes has no sign-up, shows no ads, and does not track you across apps or websites. We don't sell or share your information.
Group studies. If you join or start a group study, the app creates an anonymous ID for your device (no email or password) and stores the following on our server, provided by Supabase: the display name you choose, the groups you're in, the readings you mark as read, and the comments and encouragements you post. Only members of the same group can see them. When you leave a group, your membership is removed; when a leader ends a group, its readings, comments and progress are deleted. You can delete your own comments at any time. To delete everything linked to your device, email us.
Reports. If you report a comment, your Mail app opens a message to us with the comment's text and group name. We use reports only to remove content that breaks our community standard of kindness.
Audio Bible. When you play the audio Bible, the recording streams from Faith Comes By Hearing's Bible Brain service. They receive the request like any website does (including your IP address); Lumen sends them nothing about you.
On-device features. Ask Lumen, passage explanations (using Apple Intelligence when it is on), Face ID and the study lock (Apple's Screen Time tools) all run on your device. Apple doesn't share the apps you choose to block with us.
Tips. Support Lumen tips are paid through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; we don't receive or store your payment details, and tips don't unlock anything.
Feedback. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply.
Anonymous usage counts. Lumen counts how many times each part of the app is used each day, for example how often the Bible reader is opened, and adds those counts up across everyone. The counts include the app version, but no name, account, device ID or anything you write, so they can't be linked to you. We use them only to learn which parts of Lumen help people most.
Children. Lumen Notes is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes. If this policy changes, we'll update the date above.
