🗺️I am currently based in Copenhagen, and work from Aarhus University's Roskilde campus in Risø.

Hej!

My name is Luiza, and I am a Brazilian PhD candidate in Environmental Economics at the Department of Environmental Science (Section for Environmental Social Sciences and Geography, ESGO) at Aarhus University in Denmark.

I work with a wide range of environmental and natural resource economics topics, including climate economics, optimization modeling, and applied microeconometrics.

In my PhD, I am currently studying policy instruments and the economics of soil carbon sequestration, with particular emphasis on the transaction costs that arise from measures and policies targeting nature-based carbon sequestration (in forestry and agriculture).

I have been working on my job market paper in parallel with my PhD, and it is titled "Forest Protection and Human Health: The Case of Malaria in the Brazilian Amazon." In the paper, I analyze a quasi-experiment involving two forest protection policies for the Brazilian Amazon region and their consequences for malaria incidence.

My main research interests lie broadly in public policy analysis and design within environmental economics, both in developing contexts and in a European setting. In the future, I hope to continue conducting scientifically relevant research with direct policymaking implications.

📌 I will be on the job market in 2025! My thesis submission is scheduled for November 2024, and my defense will likely be in early 2025.
