Raised in a country where the access to electricity is a challenge and concerned about its development, I decided along with some classmates to face the electrification problem with this project by proposing a LED light bulb that can be powered either by the mains supply coming from the national electricity supplier or by solar energy.
In the process we ended up doing about 6 bulbs using solely recycled materials. The first 3 were used to prove the concept and chose the best materials (best meaning materials that will be recycled and having the best price-quality ratio). That is the best LEDs, the best reflectors, the optimum circuit, the best diaphragm, the best battery and the best case.
As a result, we ended prototyping a recycled LED bulb that is suitable for rural or urban areas, that can last 8 hours in normal operation and 2 additional hours in a dimmed setup
