Hello!

Welcome to the Lufkin Road Middle School Band Program! My name is Mr. Ryan Wing, and I am thrilled to be joining the faculty, staff, and students at Lufkin Road! Below is a little more about me: 

Mr. Wing is the Director of Bands at Lufkin Road Middle School. He grew up in Holly Springs, NC and is an alumnus of the Lufkin Road Middle School Band Program.

Mr. Wing earned the Bachelor of Music in Music Education from The University of Utah. While in the state of Utah, his primary conducting teachers were Dr. Rebekah Daniel, Dr. Don Peterson, and Dr. Brian Sproul. During his time at The University of Utah, Mr. Wing was a performing member of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Utes, and various chamber groups. He served as Drum Major for the Marching Utes for 4 years, including 2 performances in the "Touranmaent of Roses" Parade and "Rose Bowl" Game in 2022 and 2023.

As a conductor, Mr. Wing actively particpates in conducting symposia throughout the United States. He has worked with notable conductors such as: Dr. Travis Cross, Mr. Jerry Junkin, Dr. Donald McKinney, Mr. Allan McMurray, Dr. Kevin Sedatole, Dr. Mallory Thompson, Dr. David Thorton, and Dr. Emily Threinen.

Before Mr. Wing's appointment at Lufkin Road, he completed his student teaching at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, NC under the direction of Ms. Renee Todd. 

Mr. Wing is excited to be back home at Lufkin Road, a program that holds a special place in his heart. Go Lightning and Go BAND!
