Final Instructional Design Project, EPOL 472
High School X, a Title I school with 2,000 students is aiming to address the low adoption rate of its mandated Google Classroom LMS. Despite an initial rollout, teachers reported technical anxiety and burnout. To address this, we designed a new hybrid (online and in-person) professional in-service day for teachers at High School X. The focus of the training is both technical (creating assessments, tracking student progress) and mindset-driven (improving attitudes toward the LMS) through collaborative and experiential learning. The ultimate goal is to empower teachers to use the LMS independently and regularly, eventually serving as a pilot model for the rest of the district.
This course employs a hybrid synchronous or blended delivery mode. Sessions occur simultaneously in-person and via activities on Google Classroom. All learners must possess certain entry-level digital and critical behaviors. All modules’ materials are delivered via Google Classroom, a centralized digital platform, using multimedia formats including video, text and images. Assessment is both synchronous and asynchronous. Each module follows a standardized workflow balancing individual focus with collaborative engagement.
The course is designed to be delivered during a professional work day for teachers. Since each module is designed to accomplish the overall learning goal, learners are not required to attend all three modules, but may choose to select the module that best suits their interest level.
