“Theatre is a transformative thing with the unique power to grant audiences a look through someone else’s eyes. It’s an art form that demands a wide range of perspectives, but there are still so many groups whose stories aren’t being told, as they’re traditionally not given the means to tell them. At Luckenbooth, we’re dedicated to giving independent artists a place to create, regardless of ability or neurotype. As Director of Accessibility, it’s my goal to help bring the power of theatre to the marginalised groups that are often left out of our communities and our art form, and give them the power to tell their stories. As a disabled actor myself, it’s important to me that these stories are shared authentically and inclusively, and it’s my mission to make sure that any artist with a gift to share is given a space free of roadblocks and judgement where they can create and connect.” ~Abby Evangelisto, January 2021
