Taken place in the summer of 1976, Jolene is trying to write a novel. Jolene has a passion for writing, but it has been hard for her to write since she has three young children to take care of and a husband that is a pilot. Due to Jolene being there for her children while her husband works, she has had no time to write. After all these years of not doing what she enjoys, Jolene realizes she needs to do what she loves again. Since Terry will be gone most of the summer teaching students how to fly, Jolene begs Terry for someone to watch the kids. She tells him she needs time and wants to write a novel. After Jolene begs her husband, Terry says yes. 

The nanny is named Esther, a young woman passionate about dance. When Jolene and Esther meet first met, though, they clicked, almost like they had seen each other before. They are mesmerized by each other.
