Based on a true story, First Base is about a eighteen year old boy named Rich Reese. He is a plumber for a family owned business, and a boy who has a big passion for baseball. One day after a baseball game he played in, Rich took a look in the paper, and he saw that there will be a Detroit Tigers Tryout Camp in Toledo. He tells his uncle (Mick) about it, and he insists Rich should go to the tryout camp. Uncle Mick also mentions that he can drive him to Toledo for the tryout camp as well. 

Rich finally makes a decision to go to the Detroit Tigers tryout camp, and once Rich did the tryout camp, his whole baseball career changed after that.
