In my class, everyone's opinion will be respected as I want to take a Socratic discussion approach to teaching history. This allows the students to gain their ideas on the content being taught. It also allows them to build on their social skills when communicating with their classmates.
I plan to try and use as much technology as possible. When looking at primary sources in class, I would like to try and use digital copies so the students can highlight, zoom in, or research something they don't understand within the document. I feel the next generation of students will have so much knowledge when it comes to technology that I feel not letting them use technology would ultimately hurt their education. I do recognize that some students may learn in different ways which is why I will strive to provide other forms of learning so that all students can succeed in my class.
I feel I can always improve my teaching skills and I am open to any advice or suggestions that would greatly benefit my ability to teach in the classroom.
I look forward to growing as a teacher as well as helping my students to continue to not only grow as learners but to grow as prominent members of our society. I want my students to feel that they can come to me for advice or help when they need it and for them to not be afraid to ask questions in my class.
