English 100 Goals
English 100 Goals
In this course, I hope to achieve more than success, I hope to achieve a new way of interacting with and learning about English and language.
First, I hope to improve my ability to analyze and think about texts. Analyzing texts has been a challenge of mine because it requires creativity and fostering an analytical thought process. I have been working and will continue to work towards this goal by highlighting the texts as I am reading. As well as taking point form notes about what the character is saying, feeling, and/or doing which is not being explicitly stated. Taking this step has allowed me to engage with the course material on a deeper level and has helped me begin taking on an analytical mindset when reading.
Second, I hope to develop time management skills and strategies. Taking four courses, working part-time, and playing on the Capilano men’s soccer team, a worry of mine is time management. To work towards allocating time for each subject, I will begin using a planner. In my planner, I will write down my upcoming assignments, exams, work times, as well as games. Doing this will allow me to see what I have upcoming in the following weeks, which will help me plan ahead and begin my tasks early.
Actively working towards these two “hopes” in English 100, will not only benefit me in this course but going forward in my university career.
