LegalLine (provided by the Houston Bar Association)

The Houston Bar Association offers its LegalLine on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The phone number to call is (713) 759-1133. This service is also offered in Spanish on the 1st Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same phone number.

LegalLine (provided by the Tarrant County Bar Association)

The Tarrant County Bar Association offers its LegalLine on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The phone number to call is (817) 335-1239.

Lawyer Referral Information System

The State Bar of Texas offers callers assistance with finding a lawyer. Lawyers participating in the referral service charge no more than $20 for an initial 30 minute consultation. If you and the lawyer decide to work together after this consultation, a payment agreement will be negotiated between you and the lawyer for his or her legal services. 1-800-496-0043

Legal Hotline for Texans Over Age 60 or Medicare Recipients

The Texas Legal Services Center offers a free legal hotline for Texans over the age of 60 or Texans who receive Medicare. The phone number to call is 1-800-622-2520.

Veteran's Legal Assistance Project

The Texas Legal Services Center offers a free legal hotline for low-income Texas veterans and their families (with a focus on outreach to the disabled veterans who live in rural areas of the state). They provide assistance with civil legal questions. The phone number to call is 1-800-622-2520, option 2. The Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans program from the State Bar of Texas may also be able to connect veterans with free or low-cost legal assistance.

Access and Visitation Hotline

The Texas Office of the Attorney General's Child Support Division offers an access and visitation legal hotline that provides parents with basic legal information about issues related to family law issues, such as custody, visitation, and child support. The hotline is available on weekdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number to call is (866) 292-4636. Spanish language assistance is also available / También se habla español.

CPS Family Helpline

The Family Helpline is staffed by lawyers who can provide legal information and education regarding CPS (Child Protective Services) issues. They can provide information regarding CPS investigations, service plans, legal terms, kinship care, what to expect in court, and other related topics. It is a project of the Texas Legal Services Center, the Texas Children's Commission, the Children's Justice Act, and the Texas Access to Justice Foundation. The Family Helpline is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The phone number to call is (844) 888-6565. Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault (LASSA)

LASSA advocates provide sexual assault survivors with information and advice about legal issues that may arise following a sexual assault. The phone number to call is 1-800-991-5153. Spanish language assistance is also available / También se habla español.

Advocates for Victims of Crime (AVOICE)

The Texas Legal Services Center and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault provide a free and confidential legal hotline for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse or assault, stalking, cyber-stalking, or any other form of violent crime. The phone number to call is (888) 343-4414, or you can contact AVOICE online. If you need assistance in a language other than English, an interpreter or native speaker may be available to speak with you.

Stop Abuse For Everyone (SAFE) SAFEline

SAFEline may provide direct legal representation and legal advice for survivors of domestic abuse, child abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. The phone number to call is 1-512-267-7233. You can also text them directly at 1-737-888-7233, or you can chat with SAFE online. Spanish language assistance is also available / También se habla español.

Division of Workers' Compensation

The Division of Workers' Compensation offers several hotlines for concerns regarding workers' compensation claims, workplace safety, suspected workers' compensation fraud, and other issues. Equal Justice Center — Workers' Rights and DACA Applications

The Equal Justice Center provides free legal advice regarding employment matters (e.g., unpaid or low wages) to low-income workers. They also provide assistance preparing and submitting applications for the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). For assistance regarding your rights at work, call (800) 853-4028; for DACA application help, call (888) 670-6854. See the organization's website for the number of the EJC location nearest you. South Central Pension Rights Project

The Texas Legal Services Center offers a free hotline for assistance with employer-sponsored retirement benefits. Their services are offered regardless of income status. The phone number to call is 1-800-443-2528.

Texas Foster Youth Justice Project

The Texas Foster Youth Justice Project helps current and former foster youth by providing free legal advice, assistance, guidance, and representation in enforcing foster youth rights. They also assist with legal barriers to a successful transition out of foster care. Additionally, they assist those who work with foster youth including caseworkers, attorneys ad litem, and foster parents. The number to call is 1-877-313-3688. Texas Immigrant Rights Hotline

The Texas Immigrant Rights Hotline is staffed by volunteer attorneys who can answer questions about immigration law and provide referrals for legal services. This hotline is provided by the Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative, the ACLU of Texas, the Tahirih Justice Center, Houston Volunteer Lawyers, and the Vinson & Elkins law firm. The hotline is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except on holidays. The phone number to call is 1-833-468-4664. If you need assistance in a language other than English, a translator may be available to assist.
