I upgraded to Freenas version 9.10.2 and I am getting a warning that I have a driver mismatch. I know I need to update the firmware of the LSI SAS9200-8E, but I don't know how to do that. Can of you advise me? Thanks.

I've just installed an LSI-9200-8e card, and I'm having some trouble getting any drivers to install for it. I've tried every one of the Windows drivers from the broadcom site, and have not had any luck at all.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter LSI Logic LSI SAS 9200-8e into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

does anyone know how to use the commercial drivers from astek? I can see the kexts in the install package with pacifist but the website says it needs a registration key.. any way to use the kexts without their utilities or need for the key... or edit the kext to remove the key requirement..?

i had great results with this driver on a LSI 9240-8i with 4x SAS and 4xSATA disks connected to the controller. Even the ' unsafe sleep' worked for me, on Windows i always get BSOD (CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED) when i try entering sleep. I wonder if it ever worked on windows 7.

I contacted their support, and I was just informed that the licensing server for the driver was decommissioned years ago, so it's essentially impossible to use unless someone were to break the license check.

How can I load the SAS MegaRaid driver by Dukzcry in El Capitan? I constantly get This computer doesn't contain any Parallel SCSI devices in System Report. The process to disable the driver signing in Yosemite is easily done and the card recognized.

More details on the problem. I have LSI 9261-8i raid controller in Mac Pro 1.1 with El Capitan. By entering the Recovery HD I followed the procedure of driver signing off. As a result I have the card not detected.

I am a newbie and am running Windows server 2016 enterprise on an Envy TE01-0034. I would like to configure a RAID1. I have an Icy Dock with 2 4TB drives. I also installed a LSI SAS9207-8e controller card. I've looked everywhere for a driver and am waiting for a response from Broadcom. Is it unreasonable for me to put this all together?

If you do find a driver that works for it, and decide to use the 9207, do not setup your RAID using the RAID built into the card. Use the card strictly as an HBA and setup the RAID 1 using the software RAID built into Windows. While not the greatest, it will be better than the FakeRAID setup you will end up with if you set it up using the LSI RAID utility.

The 2012 driver did not work. Thank you for your help and information. Is there any way I can salvage what I have to use server 2016 and external drives for storage? I don't think I need a RAID as long as the main drive backs up several times a day to a secondary drive. I would also have a third backup and an off-site backup. The computer has two internal sata ports if that is important to know.

well... you are facing the issue described in document i mentionned in the previous note

I ve been reading through the bug :

7090061 Backup software unable to detect library/tape devices attached to SAS2.0 HBA(both mpt_sas and pmcs)Ā

there is not any improvement since the comment from doc 1435929.1

"CR 7090061 - 'Backup software unable to detect library/tape devices attached to SAS2.0 HBA(both mpt_sas and pmcs)

Basically Solaris changed the driver stack and they only allow one driver attach per device, but Symantec depends on two drivers to attach (sg and st).

The sg driver is too entrenched in Symantec's code to change and so far Solaris hasn't been willing to revert back.

The issue has been escalated through management, but we don't have any time frame on a potential solution, or as to whether there will be a solution."

For now the only solution to fix this issue is to replace the 6GB SAS HBA with a 3GB SAS HBA.

The explanation is that the 3GB SAS HBA is using the mpt driver, while the 6GB SAS HBA is using hte mpt_sas driverĀ

I can attach the SR 3-5959149981 to the CR 7090061, to add your customer to the list of client impacted by the issue

You could try too to disable mpxio in the mpt_sas.conf file, but i dont give much chance to that solution as it is not reported as a Work Around on the Oracle side

Dude, you rock. I was hovering over your link to make sure it wasn't a phishing thing when I continued to read the rest of your post. Kudo's for giving a manual way to find the driver yourself. I'll have to look into this. TYVM

Does anyone have any advice for updating the firmware? I have a card I bought on amazon that shows up as "IBM ServeRAID M5015 SAS/SATA Controller" and in the reviews people said they just updated the firmware to LSI 9260-8i and it worked fine, but I have been unable to update the driver (using device manager and the driver posted above) or figure out how to update the firmware on it. I am a total newb to using command prompts and CLI to update firmware and youtube hasn't helped. photos from the boot WebUI on the card firmware version etc.

Generally, the recommendation for HBAs is to use the Broadcom/ LSI series of HBAs as they are the most widely used. We even had issues with Adaptec 1000 series HBAs (1000-8i) and that made sense since FreeBSD is not on the driver support page (last checked 2022-08-17). Given that pricing is comparable to LSI offerings, get LSI. Leave the Microchip/ Adaptec HBAs to Windows, VMware, Citrix, and ZFS-on-Linux servers. 006ab0faaa
