The Summer Training School on Creating Resources for Indian Languages is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to create linguistic resources in Indian languages. Our program offers hands-on training and lectures from renowned professors, giving participants a unique opportunity to contribute to linguistic resources and potentially join our ongoing projects as Research Assistants.
Some of the key features of the training school include the following -
Hands-on Training on Corpus Creation.
Lectures and Training by Renowned Professors and Researchers.
Honorarium for Corpus Creation.
Partial and Full Financial Support (on a reimbursement basis) for the best participants, sponsored by SpeeD-TB and BoLI Projects.
Opportunity to get hired as Research Assistants in SpeeD-TB and BoLI Projects (subject to performance in the school and decision of the respective projects).
The training school will focus on the following languages for speech corpus creation -
Toto
Chokri
Kok Borok
Nyishi
Bodo
Meitei
The speakers of these languages or the linguists who have access to the speakers will be given preference in the selection for the school and also for financial assistance for attending the school.
However, speakers and linguists working with regional varieties of scheduled languages or non-scheduled languages are also strongly encouraged to apply for the school. We are likely to have additional fellowships and assistance available for such participants.
*All financial assistance and honorariums are dependent on attendance and performance during the school. While the participants shortlisted for financial assistance will be notified in their acceptance email (based on their application form), the shortlisting will be provisional, and support may be withdrawn if the participant fails to turn up for school or does not perform as per the expectations. The fellowship amount will be transferred to the eligible participants only after completing the summer school.
Max Intake: 30 (early applicants will be given preference, and they might get early notification of acceptance as well)
